UWA to Host Concordia in Non-Conference Action

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 14, as UWA (5-10, 0-2) hosts Concordia College of Selma at 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed over the internet on the B2 Network and live stats will be available at athletics.uwa.edu.

The Tigers, who are currently on a two-game losing skid, are 2-0 against the Hornets all-time. Wednesday night’s affair will mark the first meeting between the two schools since the 2006-07 season, a 75-40 win in Livingston.

Valerie Harris continues to pilot the Red and White. The senior from Lake, Miss. averages 16 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest, which currently ranks sixth and eighth in the Gulf South Conference. Senior Danielle Baldwin, the Tiger steals leader, ranks eighth in the conference this season with 2.36 swipes per game.

UWA stumbled in its last outing, falling 62-38 at West Georgia in GSC play. Harris led UWA with her third double-double of the season and fourth of her career with 17 points and 12 rebounds. She’s scored in double figures 14 times this season with 27 career double digit efforts.

Following Wednesday’s non-conference affair, West Alabama returns to conference play, as UWA hosts UAH on Saturday, Jan. 17. Tip-off is re-scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
