LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Fresh off earning its
first two victories of the season, the
University of West Alabama women’s
basketball team returns to the hardwood on
Tuesday, Dec. 9, as the Tigers (2-5) travel
to Memphis, Tenn. to face Gulf South
Conference West Division foe Christian
Brothers in non-conference action. Tip-off
in Canale Arena is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
and will be available via live stats at
athletics.uwa.edu.
UWA holds the
advantage in the series with CBU with a 7-4
record, including a 60-51 win in Livingston
during the 2006-2007 season.
UWA
defeated Livingstone College (68-64) and
Eckerd College (59-58) in the West Florida
Classic over the weekend. Valerie Harris and
Omeshia Frost led the Red and White
averaging double figures scoring at the
classic. Harris, a Lake, Miss.-native,
averaged 16 points and nine rebounds, while
Frost, a Lawrenceville, Ga.-product,
averaged 11.5 points and four boards. Harris
leads UWA this season with 16 points and
nine rebounds per game.
CBU (3-3)
enters the outing after snapping a
three-game losing skid with a 70-66 win at
UAH on Saturday. Four Lady Bucs scored in
double figures, led by
Tameka Wooten,
who posted a double-double with 16 points
and 10 rebounds. Tanaeya Worden leads CBU
with 13.8 points per game, while Sheena
DeBose averages 5.5 boards.
Following
Tuesday night’s encounter, West Alabama
closes out pre-holiday action at the Delta
State hosted, Lloyd Clark Classic in
Cleveland, Miss. UWA opens with DSU on
Monday, Dec. 15 in a 5:00 p.m. tip-off and
closes out the 2008 slate against the
University of Arkansas at Monticello on
Tuesday, Dec. 16 in a 3:00 p.m. affair at
Walter Sillers Coliseum.
