LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of
West Alabama women’s basketball team
looks to remain in the win column and
avenge an earlier season loss, as UWA
(4-8) hosts Christian Brothers on
Saturday, Jan. 3. Tip-off is set for
2:00 p.m. and can be viewed on the B2
Network.
The
Tigers have won two of their last three
outings, including a season-high scoring
effort, 75-67, against Southern Arkansas
at the West Florida Holiday Classic.
Danielle Baldwin and Valerie Harris led
the UWA in scoring with 16 points each,
while Harris also paced the Red and
White on the glass with eight rebounds
against the Lady Muleriders.
UWA holds the
advantage in the series with CBU (6-5)
with a 7-5 record, but dropped a 72-56
decision at Canale Arena on Dec. 9,
snapping a two-game win streak for the
Tigers. Harris led UWA with 20
points while Keiara Middleton also
posted double digits on the night with
10 points. Middleton also led the Tigers
on the boards with five. CBU (4-3) shot
48.4-percent from the floor on the
night, as compared to UWA’s
38.9-percent, and out rebounded the
Tigers 39-23. CBU’s
Tanaeya
Worden led all players with 23 points.
Harris
is averaging 16.2 points and 7.7
rebounds per outing to pilot the Tigers.
Jenni Thomley is second on the team in
scoring and rebounding with 7.4 points
and 4.4 boards per contest.
The Lady Bucs
enter the contest on a two-game losing
streak, falling to Indianapolis 71-65 in
Memphis and losing at Butler 83-40.
Worden paces CBU in scoring with 14.5
points per game, as Sheena DeBose leads
the way on the boards with 5.3 per game.
Following Saturday’s
contest, West Alabama will open
conference play at North Alabama on
Thursday, Jan. 8. Tip-off at Flower’s
Hall is set for 6:00 p.m. The game will
