#19 UWA Hosts William Carey

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 19th-ranked University of West Alabama baseball team returns to action on Wednesday, April 16, as the Tigers (34-8, 8-4 Gulf South Conference) host William Carey at 6:00 p.m. The game can be followed via live stats at athletics.uwa.edu.

This marks the third time the two schools have met this season and the 87th meeting in the series. The Crusaders (30-16) hold the all-time advantage at 51-37, but UWA has claimed seven of the last 10 outings. In the two previous meetings this season, WCU grabbed a 5-2 victory in Hattiesburg, Miss., but the Red and White answered with a 9-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Tigers held off Lambuth earlier this week for a 12-9 win, extending their win streak to five games and improving to 27-3 at Tartt Field. WCU is currently on a three-game win streak after sweeping Loyola in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Crusaders are 11-7 away from Milton Wheeler Field.

West Alabama returns to GSC action this weekend, as the Tigers host in-state rival North Alabama in a three-game series. Start time for the Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. with the finale on Sunday scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Sunday will also be Senior Day at Tartt Field. UWA will honor its 10 seniors with a ceremony beginning at 12:50 p.m.
