LIVINGSTON, Ala. --
The third-ranked University of West Alabama baseball
team travels to Valdosta, Ga. for a three-game, Gulf
South Conference weekend series, as the Tigers
(29-5) face Valdosta State (20-10-1).

Valdosta State holds
the all-time advantage in the series, 27-24, that
began in 1970. The initial meeting took place in the
NAIA Regional Tournament with UWA claiming an 11-5
victory. Last season, the two teams squared off in
Livingston, Ala. with UWA claiming the series 2-1.
The Blazers opened with a 5-2 victory in the top
half of the doubleheader, but the Diamond Tigers
took the night cap of the twinbill, 3-0, and then
won the series on Sunday 4-2.
The Tigers, who
enter the contest riding a four-game win streak, are
5-1 in the Gulf South Conference with a series win
over in-state Montevallo last weekend and a sweep of
UAH to open conference play. The Red and White are
5-2 away from Tartt Field this season entering the
weekend series at VSU.
The Blazers enter
the series undefeated in conference play, after
sweeping UAH last weekend at Billy Grant Field. VSU
currently rides a four-game win streak of its own
entering the series after downing 15-12 during the
mid-week.
The conference
series concludes on Sunday, March 30, with a 12:00
p.m. scheduled start time. The game will be carried
