LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The
20th-ranked University of West Alabama

afternoon, as the Tigers (33-8, 8-4 GSC)
defeated the Argonauts (18-26, 4-8 GSC) 9-3
in game one and 7-2 in the finale. The sweep
secured UWA's third series win in the
conference.
UWA plated three runs in the
first two innings of the opening game and
held a 3-0 lead after three innings. A
Jeremy Finney triple to right field in the
first inning, scored Jake DeRoy to get
things started for the Tigers. Two batters

an RBI, scoring Finney. The third run of the
contest came off the bat of Nick Wheeler,
who hit a lead-off homerun in the second
inning.
UWF placed its first run on
the board in the fourth inning, but the
Tigers answered with two runs in the fifth

Wheeler single. The final runs of the
contest came in the eighth inning. Finney

the win with eight innings of action,

in relief with one run allowed on one hit.
A Red and White run in the
third inning broke up a scoreless tie in the
second contest of the day, as Clint Moody
hit a lead-off homerun down the left field
line. UWF evened the contest at 1-1 in the
fourth inning, but UWA answered with three
runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a
4-1 lead.
Following a Finney walk,
Dahlberg tripled to left center to score
Finney. Two batters later Wheeler singled to
left field, with two outs, to score
Dahlberg. A Moody single through the left
side moved Wheeler up to second before he
scored on a Cory Houston single to right
field.
The Tigers added three more
runs in the sixth inning. A Rea sacrifice
fly to left field scored Wheeler. A DeRoy
walk would load the bases and UWA plated its
second run of the inning as Finney was hit
by a pitch to score Moody. The final run

Dahlberg sac fly to left field.
