#11 UWA Secures Sweep with 7-3 Win

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 11th-ranked University of West Alabama baseball team secured a three-game sweep of Talladega College with a 7-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Tartt Field. UWA improves to 29-10 on the season.

Colter Millican (2-0) picked up his second win of the season with seven, scoreless innings pitched. Millican scattered three hits in the outing with six strikeouts. Dating back to last weekend’s start at West Florida, the Brighton, Tenn.-native has pitched 12 consecutive innings without allowing run.

Dallas Rogers gave the Tigers the early lead in the second inning with a double to right field that scored Clint Brown and Douglas Frazier, who each reached base after being hit by pitch. A Brian Simone two-run, homerun to right center field, in the fifth inning, extended the Red and White’s lead to 4-0. UWA added two more runs in the seventh inning. The first of the runs came off a Nick Wheeler homer to center field for a 5-0 lead. Frazier scored the final run of the inning, crossing the dish on a Brown base hit to left field.

After TC (10-32) cut the lead in half in the eighth plating three runs, the Tigers picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the frame, as Jeremy Finney scored on a Rob Dahlberg sacrifice fly to center field for the final run of the game.

West Alabama wraps up its six-game homestand with a doubleheader against the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Tuesday, Apr. 14. First pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
