Tigers 10th in National Polls

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After posting a 4-0 record during the week, the University of West Alabama baseball team is tenth in both the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll and the PING! Baseball Poll.

UWA (29-10) picked up a come-from-behind 12-9 win over William Carey and stepped out of Gulf South Conference play with a sweep of Talladega College for the spotless record during the week. The Tigers will host the University of Arkansas at Monticello in a doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 14 to close out the six-game homestand.

Southern Arkansas holds the top spot in both polls for the first time since March 16. The Muleriders are currently riding a 15-game win streak, after sweeping Christian Brothers over the weekend. Differences appear through the next four spots in both polls. In the CBN, Mesa State, Emporia State, Florida Southern and Grand Valley State round out the top five spots. In the PING!, FSC sits in second, followed by GVSU, Barry and MSU.

GSC West Division members Delta State and Ouachita Baptist are both ranked in the two polls. DSU is 17th in the CBN with OBU in 25th. The Statesmen are 11th in the PING! poll, while the Tigers are 24th.

Following Tuesday’s mid-week doubleheader, West Alabama returns to GSC action on Saturday, Apr. 18. The Tigers travel to North Alabama for a key East Division series.
