LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West Alabama
baseball team made upward
strides this week in the
national polls, climbing to 11th
in the Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper Poll and ninth in the
Ping! Baseball Poll.
UWA (23-8)
completed a series sweep of
Valdosta State this weekend to
improve to 8-0 in the Gulf South
Conference. The trio of wins was
the third conference sweep of
the year for the Tigers and
extended the win streak to 12
games.
Discrepancies appear in the No.1
spot in both polls. The PING!
Baseball Poll lists Southern
Arkansas as the top team while
the CBN Poll places Florida
Southern as the national leader.
Grand Valley State and Emporia
State are second and third in
each poll. Barry is fourth in
the PING! with Mesa State in
fifth. MSU is fourth in the CBN
with SAU in fifth.
Delta State
is listed 15th in the
PING! and 24th in the
CBN and is the only other GSC
constant in both polls. Ouachita
Baptist and Henderson State are
ranked 16th and 27th,
respectively in the PING! Poll.
West
Alabama returns to action on
Wednesday, Apr. 1, as UWA
travels to Auburn Montgomery for
a mid-week outing. First pitch
is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
