LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The 23rd-ranked
University of West Alabama baseball
team returns to action this weekend
as UWA (6-4) hosts No. 3 Ouachita
Baptist and No. 28 St. Joseph’s
(Ind.). The Tigers open the weekend
on Friday, Feb. 20 against OBU.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:00
p.m. The game will be broadcasted on
WZNJ 106.5-FM and live stats will be
available at athletics.uwa.edu.
Four Tigers are
batting over .350 this season, led
by Rob Dahlberg. The Gilbertown,
Ala.-native is hitting .423 at the
dish in eight games and is second on
the team in RBI and homeruns. The
team leader in homeruns and RBI is
Nick Wheeler. The Hokes Bluff,
Ala.-product has blasted four
homeruns, all last weekend, with 17
RBI, while batting .378 from the
plate. Mike Schmitt paces the UWA
hurlers with three wins. The
Cheyenne, Wyo.-native has posted a
2.33 ERA in 19 1/3 innings with 10
strikeouts. The senior has scattered
five runs on 15 hits this season.

Poulter leads OBU (9-3) at the dish;
batting .410 in the Tigers 12 games
this season. Poulter is second on
the team in hits with 16 and seventh
in RBI with seven. Chase Baran the
ace of the OBU staff leads the
Tigers with 15 strikeouts in 17
innings, both tops on the team. The
Purple and Gold enter the weekend
after having its three game win
streak stopped on Tuesday in a 7-6
loss to East Central.
St.
Joseph’s
(3-0) swept GSC West Division member
Christian Brothers last weekend to
open its season. The Pumas are led
by Matt Foltz, who in three games
has tallied a .455 batting average,
while driving in five runs.
Gord Gateman has recorded a 4.76 ERA
for the Pumas in a team-leading 5
2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
