BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – University of West Alabama pitcher
Brandon Dill was named Gulf South Conference East
Division Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the
conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the
second time this season that Dill has received the
honor, as three Tigers have claimed weekly honors
from the GSC this year, including Tres Avans being
named Player of the Week and Mike Schmitt receiving
Pitcher of the Week laurels.
Dill
saw action in
two contests during the week, including a complete
game, 2-1 win over UAH. The senior pitcher allowed
just one run in 12 innings action, recording eight
strikeouts in his two appearances. In the win over
the Chargers, the Columbus, Miss.-native pitched
nine innings, his longest outing of the season,
allowing one run on four hits with a season-high
tying six strikeouts.
Second-ranked
West Alabama returns to action on Wednesday, March
19, as the Tigers face #10 Delta State in a neutral
site, regional contest at Trustmark Park in Pearl,
Miss. First pitch of the 98th meeting is
scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The game will be carried on
Y-104.9-FM and at athletics.uwa.edu.
