CLEVELAND, Miss. --
Heavy rain on
Friday has forced the cancellation of
Saturday’s baseball doubleheader between
the University of West Alabama and Delta
State. The two teams will renew their
series on Sunday with a twinbill at Dave
“Boo” Ferriss Field. Audio from the

starting at 11:45 a.m.
UWA is 32-74 against the Statesmen, but
the Tigers have held their own in the
last 10 meetings, drawing a 5-5 split.
DSU picked a 9-7 win in the last
meeting, closing the Tigers season in
the 2008 NCAA South Central Regional in
Cleveland, Miss. UWA eyes its first win
at Dave “Boo” Ferriss since Feb. 28,
2004; a 10-9 victory for the Tigers.
Rob Dahlberg leads the way at the plate
for UWA. The Gilbertown, Ala.-native is
batting .525 on the year, which is tops
in the GSC. The senior is second on the
team in RBI with 14 and third in hits
with 21.
Mike Schmitt paces the UWA pitching
staff with a 3-1 record and 3.08 ERA.
The Cheyenne, Wyo.-product suffered his
first loss of the season last weekend in
a 5-3 defeat to Ouachita Baptist. On the
season, the senior has tossed a
team-leading 26 1/3 innings while
allowing nine runs on 23 hits with 13
strikeouts and holding opponent batters
to a .228 batting average.
Kellen Bozeman pilots the Statesmen
offensive attack with a .392 batting
average. Bozeman leads the team with 17
RBI, 20 hits and four homeruns.
Korey
Cunningham is the ace of the staff for
the Green and White with a team-leading
23 2/3 innings pitched. Cunningham is
1-1 in four appearances on the hill for
the Statesmen with a 3.04 ERA and team
best 20 strikeouts.
