BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The University of
West Alabama’s Rob Dahlberg was
named Gulf South Conference East
Division Player of the Week for
his efforts in the Diamond
Tigers’ Gulf South Conference
baseball sweep of Valdosta State
over the weekend.
The Gilbertown, Ala.-native
recorded a .600 batting average
against the Blazers with six
hits, including four for extra
bases. The four doubles moved
the senior first baseman into
fifth all-time in two-baggers.
Among being the all-time leader
in singles and stolen bases,
Dahlberg is now ranked among the
all-time leaders in UWA baseball
history in 11 categories, which
ties former Tiger standout Walt
Simmons as the most.
Dahlberg becomes the second UWA
player to receive an honor from
the GSC office, as Jody Morgan
claimed the same laurel earlier
this season. This marks
Dahlberg’s fifth career Player
of the Week accolade.
West Alabama returns to action
on Wednesday, Apr. 1, as the
Tigers travel to Auburn
Montgomery for a single, nine
inning contest. First pitch is
scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
