LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday, March 18, as UWA (16-8) meets Delta State in Pearl, Miss. for the third annual game at Trustmark Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on WZNJ 106.5-FM and at athletics.uwa.edu.

Wednesday’s affair marks the 107th meeting between the two schools with DSU (16-9) holding the advantage at 74-32, but each has claimed five games in the last 10 meetings. The Statesmen won the last outing in the NCAA South Central Regional last year, 9-7, but UWA has claimed both contests at Trustmark Park. The two institutions three-game series in Cleveland earlier this season was canceled due to weather complications.

Brian Simone has been the big bat for the Tigers in the last five games, batting .500 during the span with three homeruns and a double, while driving in seven runs. Rob Dahlberg continues to guide the offense on the season with a .435 batting average while posting 19 RBI.

The Statesmen are led at the plate by Devin Goodwin’s .391 batting clip. The Demopolis, Ala.-native leads the team with 34 hits, while driving in 25 runs. DSU arrives in Pearl, Miss. on a 10-game win streak, including a three-game sweep over Ouachita Baptist this weekend to open conference play.

Following the midweek event, West Alabama returns to GSC play, as the Tigers travel to Montevallo, Ala. to face the Falcons. The three-game weekend series starts with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on WZNJ 106.5-FM and at athletics.uwa.edu.
