TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of
West Alabama baseball team remained 20th
in the latest Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper Poll, as released by the
publication Monday afternoon. The
Tigers, who improved to 33-8 on the
season and 8-4 in the Gulf South
Conference, went 4-0 this week,
including a sweep of GSC East Division
foe West Florida.
Mount
Olive (37-4) returns to the top spot,
after falling to third last week. Sonoma
State (32-4), who was second in the
previous poll, is now tied with former
#1 Southern Arkansas (33-4) in second.
Tampa (28-6-1) remains in fourth with
Emporia State (32-3) climbing a spot to
fifth.
Other
GSC notables are Delta State (27-8) up
five spots to sixth and Valdosta State
(25-11-1), which is down three spots, in
18th. Ouachita Baptist (35-7)
climbed one spot to 21st.
North Alabama and Montevallo each
received one vote to round out the
conference.
Other
NCAA Division II South Central Region
teams appearing in the poll are Abilene
Christian (27-13) in 19th and
St. Edward’s (25-10) in 30th.
Both St Mary’s and Southeast Oklahoma
received votes.
West
Alabama returns to action on Wednesday,
April 16, as the Tigers host William
Carey. First pitch of the
non-conference, mid-week contest is
scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
