TUCSON,
Ariz. – The University of West Alabama
baseball team ranks #3 in the latest edition of
the of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll,
as released by the publication Monday afternoon.
UWA (26-5),
which went 3-1 in action this week, garnered 448
points in the poll, falling one spot. Mount
Olive (33-2) remains in the top spot, receiving
480 points, while Sonoma State (25-1) jumped two
spots to become the new #2 in the poll with 464
points. Grand Valley State (13-1) and Southern
Arkansas (24-3), from the Gulf South Conference
West Division, are tied for fourth with 424
points.
Other notables
from the GSC are Delta State and Ouachita
Baptist. The Statesmen (21-8), back one spot,
are tied for 11th with Columbus
State. OBU (25-7) fell 11 spots to 23rd
in the poll, as North Alabama received votes.
West Alabama
returns to action on Tuesday, March 25, as the
Tigers host Henderson State in a doubleheader.
The twinbill is the first of three games during
the midweek for the Tigers. First pitch Tuesday
is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The contests will be
carried on Y-104.9-FM and athletics.uwa.edu.
