LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama has
claimed the highest ranking in school history, as
UWA (15-4) is ranked third in the latest Collegiate
Baseball Newspaper Poll, as released by the
publication Monday afternoon.
The Diamond
Tigers, which wrapped up a 3-1 record this week,
including taking two of three from Delta State, is
tied with Tampa (13-2-1), who was ranked third last
week.
Mount Olive (19-1)
remains the top team in the poll with 480 points.
Ouachita Baptist (16-2) stands as the highest ranked
Gulf South Conference member, as the Tigers hold to
second with 464 points. Franklin Pierce (2-0) moved
up one spot to fifth, grabbing 412 points.
Inside the GSC,
Delta State (12-4) fell to ninth place with Southern
Arkansas (14-3) sliding up one spot to 14th.
North Alabama, Valdosta State and Montevallo all
received votes in the poll.
West Alabama
returns to action on Tuesday, March 4, as the Tigers
host the University of Arkansas at Monticello in a
doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Tigers then travel to Monticello, Ark. for a
three-game series against the Boll Weevils,
beginning on Saturday at 12 p.m.
