LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 11th-ranked
University of West Alabama
baseball team travels to Auburn
Montgomery for the first of four
road games this week on
Wednesday, Apr. 1. First pitch
of the single, nine inning
contest is scheduled for 5:00
p.m.
UWA (23-8) enters the outing
riding a 12-game win streak,
including a Gulf South
Conference East Division sweep
of Valdosta State over the
weekend. Senior Rob Dahlberg
batted .600 during the series
with four doubles en route to
being named the GSC East
Division Player of the Week. The
Gilbertown, Ala.-native moved
into fifth all-time in doubles
with the effort against the
Blazers. Dahlberg is now ranked
in 11 career categories for the
Tigers.
AUM leads the series with the
Red and White, holding a 26-21
record, but the Tigers have
claimed the last five contests
against the Senators. Under UWA
Head Coach Gary Rundles, UWA is
9-6 against AUM.
The Senators are 20-13 on the
season, including four straight
wins. Cody Shields paces AUM at
the dish with a .460 batting
average, including 22 RBI, which
second best on the team. The
Senator’s pitching staff this
season has held their opponents
to a .283 batting average with
207 strikeouts.
Following Wednesday’s mid-week
contest, West Alabama returns to
action on Saturday, Apr. 4, as
UWA travels to Pensacola, Fla.
for a three-game series against
West Florida. Game time for
Saturday’s doubleheader against
the Argos has been moved to 2:00
p.m. The game was originally
